GreenCow
I've got a new question, although it's also about the Dell Inspiron 530 desktop, so I'll ask it here. The system is compatible with 800 MHz RAM, and so that's what I'm hoping to get. The Corsair memory configurator only lists 667 Mhz RAM modules for this system. For the PC 6400 RAM, the closest I could find that might work is: TWIN2X2048-6400 The 530 AFAIK doesn't let you set the RAM voltage, so I'd probably need RAM that can operate with 1.8 V. The timing specs of the TWIN2X2048-6400 say it was rated with 1.9 V, but I've seen at least one site which lists this model number as working with (or requiring) 1.8 V. So my question is... will this RAM work with the 530? Thanks!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 31, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 31, 2007 No probably not, but Twin2x2048-6400C5DHX should work as long as the system will support 800 FSB memory, but this might be limited by the CPU FSB. I would check that your system is running at 800 MHz for the memory now with CPU-Z.
maico996
I also have a Dell Inspiron 530 and purchased the Twin2X2048-6400C4. I installed the new memory and received the 4-beep code. After a process of elimination I determined one stick of the Corsair memory to be defective. With it installed by itself the computer will not post. With the other stick it boots into Vista just fine. Right now I have the two original sticks of memory that came in the computer in dimm1 & dimm2 running with the one good stick of Corsair memory in dimm3...no problems at all. The other stick of Corsair will not run in any of the dimms. I've requested an RMA and will post results once the replacement memory arrives from Corsair. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 4, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 4, 2008 No only our Value Select would technically be compatible with OEM systems.
maico996
No only our Value Select would technically be compatible with OEM systems. So when I return the Twin2X2048-6400C4 will it be replaced with the Value Select?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 4, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 4, 2008 No you will have to talk to the place of purchase about returning them.
maico996
No you will have to talk to the place of purchase about returning them. I don't really want the Value Select and I've already received an RMA to return the defective Twin2X2048-6400C4. I just wanted to make sure that, because of the OEM system, Corsair would not send me the VS as a replacement. Thanks!
