Selaiah
Hello, I have a HX620 since 1 year. It used to work perfectly and i think it still does but after putting my PC apart yesterday and putting it together again I have a troubling issue with my computer. Whenever i touch the flip-switch on the PSU i get electroshocked. But that's not all, now i also get shocked when i press the Power-on on the front of the case. (It's a metal case). It's quite a nasty shock and there's sparks when i touch the case or the PSU. But now the actual question. Is it likely the problem is caused by the PSU? Do you think it has become faulty? Should I continue testing if this was a one (well two-time) occurance and is it safe to resume using? Best Regards, Selaiah
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 8, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 8, 2007 This sounds like a grounding issue. Can you try using a different plug in your home or office that is in another room? If your outlet is properly grounded, you should not get this. Also, are you on a carpeted floor? Selaiah
Hello, Thanks for the swift reply, my floor is PVC floor coating. I will try a different plug in a different room and report again. Do you think further testing of this issue might be dangerous or are the sparks harmless? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 8, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 8, 2007 I can't see it being physically dangerous to a human but, you need to decide on your own if you want an electrician to check the wiring. Also, static discharge in general is not good for PCs so you may want to try to isolate the cause. Since this happened after your rebuild, you may want to carefully inspect the case around the I/O panel. Also, check for some grounding issues on the back of the MOBO.
