SamStan
I have a question concering compatability between the intel BOXD975XBX2KR motherboard and TWIN2X2048-8500C5D ram. I tried to check on the corsair site however it only listed the older board. Anyway the specification show the memory likes to operate at 2.1 volts. From what I understand the intel motherboards are somewhat picky and are more stable at 1.7-1.9 volts. Would I be o.k. running this memory with this motherboard?? and will it be stable with it?? Thank you so much for any help you can offer. Sam Stansen

If you want to use high end DRAM, then you need a high end motherboard and not an Intel board. You will very likely have issues with high end DRAM and this board unless you want to perform physical modifications on the board.
SamStan
Quck question guys, I previously bought the 8500 ram and figured what the heck lets try it in this board. All things seem to be working, however when I ran memtest nothing failled but the test was running for over 8+hours. Is that normal? I haven't had one problem with windows yet and the system is fast. I bumped the voltage up to 2.1 volts and haven't seen an issue yet, however the memtest time bothers me a bit?? Any other stability test I can run to try and rattle it?? Or should I just buy the 800mhz ram?? Thanks again
DerekT
when I ran memtest nothing failled but the test was running for over 8+hours. Is that normal? The test will continue to loop until you stop it. Certainly 8+ hours looped shows the DRAM to be stable as a rock. or should I just buy the 800mhz ram No you are running fine and stable. Download CPU-z from Here and please post the CPU/Memory and SPD tabs screenshots. Use http://www.photobucket.com to upload the graphics if you do not have an upload site. Yellowbeard
In this case, I say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". What timings, FSB, and memory speed are you running?
SamStan
Here are the Cpu-Z screen shots. http://s241.photobucket.com/albums/ff235/SamStan38/?action=view¤t=Corsair8500.jpg The board seems to recognize the memory as 6400 all the timing were close under auto config (only difference was tras was 18 not 15).. Also for the record the ram ran fine at 1.9 volts which was the default voltage. I saw no problems with it, however have boosted it 2.1 since. Thanx for the all the help guys. Hope this helps someone else. -Sam
SamStan
Just thought about it?? One quick question should the memory frequency be showing 800 mhz not 400 mhz?? Thanks Stan
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 15, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 15, 2007 Depends on how the MB makers BIOS shows the memory frequency IE: DDR800 runs at 400 MHz clock frequency and since its double data rate 400 X 2 = 800! SamStan
Got you, I just check the bios and it reports the ram at 800 mhz. So I guess its good??
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 15, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 15, 2007 Sounds like it is running OK! you can check it with http://www.memtest.org to be sure.
SamStan
just tried memtest again and shows 399 Mhz with DDR798 ram??? Even though the bios has the memory listed at 800 mhz??? ??
DerekT
This is common. The DRAM is a multiple and is rounded off to show in some reports and is more precise in other reports. You are good for the go :)
