dolphin11
Hi, I have just bought 2*2GB dual chunnel kits of corsair XMS2 5400C4 675 from an online store, when I got them I have noticed that one of them is of version5.2 while the second one is 7.1, as far as I know their on board chips are from different vendors the 5.2 is from PowerChip while the 7.1 is from ProMos. Besides that I am disappointed for not getting the Micron ones I would like to know if there is any problem running both kits together on the same board (Gigabyte P35 DS4) although they are labeled as different versions? Thanks for your quick reply dolphin11
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 7, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 7, 2007 It is possible that 2 different revisions would not be compatible, and we could not guarantee that they would work together, but chances are, you will not have any issues. bigbuck08
You shouldnt have any problems like RamGuy said as long as you make sure the v5.2 sticks are in the corresponding slots for dual channel and the v7.1 are also. The only problem you may run into is having all four banks populated.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 7, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 7, 2007 With four DDR667 modules in a P35 system you should have no problems running the memory at its tested specifications, however when using four modules, there may be some tweaks in the BIOS that need to be done in order to make the system stable. However in this case it is likely that you could just plug in the modules, set the memory voltage and be on your way!
