Sitti
Hello, I am considering of purchasing Asus P5E3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP@n, X38 motherboard. I would like to have 4GB DDR3. I am thinking about getting 2 sets of TWIN3X2048-1800C7DFIN. I noticed the statement says "Must use sockets DIMM A2 and B2 (”black sockets”) to achieve this performance". So if I want to have 1800MHz 7-7-7-20, I can have only 2GB? If I increase the timing to something like 1800MHz 8-8-8-25, can I have 4GB that runs stably? The CPU I am going to be using is Core 2 Extreme QX9650. Thank you
DerekT
This means that if you populate all four DRAM banks you will very likely have to drop the DRAM throughput. You might, by overclocking the CPU<-->MCH/Northbridge<-->DRAM achieve a higher throughput as you then are overclocking the MCH and this needs to be done. People complained so much that they could not get the speeds with 4banks as they could with 2banks, that ASUS put a disclaimer :)
