Twinx1024-3200LL - Asus P4C800-E Deluxe - Bios

Hello Ram-Guy,

I have a

Asus P4C800-E-Deluxe, P4 3,2 GHz HT,

and Corsair Twinx1024-3200LL

It ran all the time Bios Version 1016 and set in Bios 2,5-3-2-6-4 - without errors, thought memtest says "2,5-3-3-6".

Then I upgraded the firmware-bios to the latest version "1024.001". No matter which bios-settings I tried, bios always said "Overclocking failed!". Same with Bios 1023.

Now I downgraded to the old 1016 again and tried the recommended timings and settings, but they does not work! =(

But following works fine with bios 1016:

-> 2,5-3-2-6-4 (memtest shows 2,5-3-3-6-4 ) @ 2,75V

-> 2-3-3-6-4 @ 2,75V

-> 2-3-2-6-4 @ 2,85V

And as mentioned 2-3-2-6-4 @ 2,75V don't work, but it should, doesn't it?

"Performance Mode" setting to "Auto" or "Standard" (mostly I tried both ;) )?

I really would like to use one of the latest bios-firmware and the standard timings 2-3-2-6-4 @ 2,75V. Could you help me and say what I should do?

Which settings should I use and which bios-version? Maybe would the setting with 2,85V be OK?

Stability and no hardware damaging are important to me.

Thanks

GSBecker

Please make sure that you have the latest Bios version and then load setup/optimized defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, Cas 2-3-2-6 and then test the module/'s one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

The DMI Pool may not be updated properly when you flash it that way and some of the versions of BIOS suggest to NOT flash them that way. So I would give that a try but just make sure the floppy has No Bad sectors on it.

Now I flashed the BIOS with afudos to 1023 (because 1024 is a beta version). And no "overclocking failed" appears anymore! :biggrin: Great job Ram Guy! :sunglasse

Now I'm running memtest with all settings as recommend. If there appears no error I will kiss you ;): By the way, the default setting for "Performance Mode" is "Auto". Is "Auto" OK or should i set it to "Standard"?

If you want to find out whether one of the modules is causing the error, you should run memtest on each module individually. If they are both causing the same errors at around the same time, then there is probably something other than memory causing the error. Normally memory will fail in the first few passes of memtest if it is faulty, however if you would like to replace these modules, then please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part! Or “Tech Support Express” and we will be happy to replace them or it, please note that you are posting from the forum!
