capice
hi ramguy... recently i built a e6570 with intel manufactured p35 based mainboard and matched with corsair xms2 2gb kit with 5-5-5-12 timing. however, according to my bios and cpuz, the timing stated there is 5-5-5-18 and it is rated at 1.8v... is this optimum performance? another thing, though it might be out of topic.. the mainboard have the ratio of FSD to DRAM at 5:6... is there anyway i can check the ratio before even purchasing the board? because i hardly see any info regarding it.. thanks!! :D:
DerekT
hi ramguy... recently i built a e6570 with intel manufactured p35 based mainboard and matched with corsair xms2 2gb kit with 5-5-5-12 timing. however, according to my bios and cpuz, the timing stated there is 5-5-5-18 and it is rated at 1.8v... is this optimum performance? If you enter your BIOS and set the DRAM timings manually to: DRAM CAS# Latency = 5 DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay = 5 DRAM RAS# Precharge = 5 DRAM RAS# Activate to Precharge = 12 You will then have the correct DRAM timings. the mainboard have the ratio of FSD to DRAM at 5:6... is there anyway i can check the ratio before even purchasing the board? because i hardly see any info regarding it.. Please post the exact model of your mainboard. Please post the exact model of your DRAM.
capice
derekt, but the ram configuration is shown in grey for my m.board.. maybe intel has restrict user from adjusting it? does it means that a 1:1 is better than 5:6 fsb-to-dram ratio? given that is a e6750? how about ASUS P5N-e SLI fsb-to-dram ratio? thanks a lot... :)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 29, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 29, 2007 Many MB's will have predefined settings that will prevent you from setting them manually. Please check the manual that came with the MB for how to change the memory timings manually. In order to disable the Failsafe Watchdog you need to change the maintenance jumper on the motherboard and boot into setup. You will enter the maintenance BIOS menu. Just check your motherboard manual for the location of the jumper. It's near the IDE port and has a tab. Make the proper changes and then shut down. Replace the maintenance jumper and restart. Check your settings in Windows.
