Note1 : for diagnostic test i've disabled usb legacy because it can give error with memory diagnostic tool Note2 : there is not Command rate in bios voice of release 0401, in test with this bios ver. i can't set this value Note3 : there are some people with problem with blue slot and pc8500 ram (corsair, ballistic, etc) it's can be a problem of rev1.02g? why in white slot there aren't problem with two different bios release? perhaps there is an architectural problem on the mboard? Note4 : why in my case, with single bank put into mobo slot, the first blue slot give me some errors and with the same bank of ram put in second blue slot i don't have errors? the first blue slot is fault? Thanks for help ramguy
DerekT
i don't have errors? the first blue slot is fault? Good testing. Can you say what FSB and Memory setting you are doing the testing with. Stock CPU and 1066FSB? When you say all in Auto, you mean timings? You must set the Vdimm to 2.2V if the DRAM is v1.xx or 2.1 if the DRAM is 2.xx You can not leave the DRAM on Auto settings. I think you mean that you were at stock CPU and 2.1V on the DRAM. It seems that the DRAM slot is in error. Can you test this DRAM in another system? XelfoX
The same dram bank in 3 different slot of the same motherboard don't give me error. I try with DRAM Voltage set at 2.1V and 2.2V but have the same situation, diagnostic tool give me error on blue slot and don't give me error in white slot. If i try to set in bios this value: Command rate: t2 (only for bios 0505) Timing: 5-5-5-15 Dram Voltage: 2.1 or 2.2 Dram freq: 1066 FSB Freq: 333 PCIE Freq: 100 nothing change, i have the same error in blue slot and no error in white slot:confused:

DerekT
Ramguy where are you? :) RAM GUY works Monday - Friday and on business hours. Be assured that he will be here to answer this thread on Monday. However, you have already answered your own problem. You have a mainboard issue with one of the DRAM slots returning errors. You would do well to contact your mainboard manufacturer for the purposes of RMA. Don't you see this?
XelfoX
Yes but other people with this board have the same problem with blue slots and different ram manufacturer pc8500 C5, can be a bios problem with blue slot? it's possible different use of ram over the same motherboard? DerekT
The choice is yours on how you deal with this issue. I would personally RMA until I received a board in which all DRAM slots were working. This is a hardware issue and if it is across the board (no pun intended) and I doubt it then there is no BIOS fix that would address such an issue. I would personally RMA until I had what I paid for. Or, if many others were having the same issue and the issue seemed board systemic, I would return the part and buy a different model. Each to their own though. The choice is yours. I still don't understand what you are looking for here though. You haven't said what you want from either this site or RAM GUY so it is rather confusing since you know what the issue is and this site does not address that issue. Simple, I want know if someone with my same configuration of ram and motherboard has the same problems. Moreover I want to understand from Ram Guy if there is an error in value of bios configuration with this ram. I'm here because Asus guy say me to ask corsair assistance if there is a problem of compatibilty between ram and motherboard. http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20071027084126875&board_id=1&model=Maximus+Formula&page=1&SLanguage=en-us http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20071028074827750&board_id=1&model=Maximus+Formula&page=1&SLanguage=en-us
XelfoX
Kensek - Moderator of Asus tech forum - alias Asus guy :) say Also Make sure you Clear your CMOS. Also what values are you setting in BIOS for your Memory Frequency, Timings, Command Rate and Voltage. You cannot leave these on "Auto" , especially the DRAM Voltage, this needs to be set at 2.2v for DDR2-1066 memory. I would also contact Corsair Technical Support in Atlanta, GA. I have been personally told by the Asus Marketing Department that Asus tests Corsair memory in all of their boards for complete functionality. And if problems exist, they should be addressed to Corsair Tech Support.
DerekT
Kensek - Moderator of Asus tech forum - alias Asus guy :) say I see. Thanks for the clarification as I did not understand. :) That's Asus's way to say that there is no issue with their board. That could well be the case and your issue along with the other's issues of the same with different DRAM are hard to understand then. Yes but other people with this board have the same problem with blue slots and different ram manufacturer pc8500 C5But that's fine, it will certainly fall to the right source in the final analysis. So, do you have any other DRAM to test this slot out with? Some other Micron D9 to see if it is the DRAM or board?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 29, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 29, 2007 Please make sure that you have the latest Bios version and then load setup/optimized defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.1 volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test. When you test the modules one at a time do they both pass one up with http://www.memtest.org? If the answer is yes then I would try moving the modules to the other two slots and try the steps above and see if it will pass http://www.memtest.org.
