Building the new Rig

Hi guys,

my first post here and already need your help

I finally have some extra money to spend on my new PC, after four years of P4 use.

Here's what I plan to buy:

MBO ASUS P5E, X38/ICH9R

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 BOX, (4×2.4GHz, 1066MHz, 8MB, Kentsfield)

Corsair 4GB, 2x2GB, 800 MHz DDR2, XMS2-6400 2x128Mx64non-ECC 240 DIMM, unbuffered, 5-5-5-15, 64Mx8 DRAMs,Two matched CM2X2048-6400C5DHX modules, TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX

nVidia XFX GF8800GTS/640Mb/Dual DVI/PciEx 500M

DVD+RW/-RW/RAM LG Dual Layer, SATA, 18x, bulk

I will also use two of mine SATA HDD's (320GB and 200GB).

OK, now I need your suggestions regarding PSU. I decided to buy the Corsair PSU but don't know which would better fit my needs..

I think that this PSU should be enough for my needs since I won't use SLI:

or on second thought maybe this, although that could be too much for this configuration:

http://www.corsair.com/products/hx.aspx (620 watts, modular, SLI Ready), although I won't be using SLI.

Hardest power consumers in this case are the processor and the graphic card but 450W should be enough for them, at least I think so, since the other one costs about 80$ more..

Any suggestions are much appreciated..

I would recommend going with either the HX520 or the VX550, depending on whether you want modular cables or not. Both will provide sufficient power for your system, and will leave room for upgrades down the the road. If you ever plan on going to an SLI video card set up, then go with the HX620w or one of the newer TX PSUs to be safe.

Thx for the reply. I don't plan to go SLI for sure, but I may overclock my system, and in that case will VX550 PSU be adequate?

Thx
