theecmo
Just bought an inspiron 530 from Dell for the wife. It came with 2 x 512GB DDR2 SDRAm DDR2 667 RAM sticks and I wanted to bump it up by another 2GB. Bought two of the CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) and put them in. Immediately started getting the blue screen of death (win32K.sys address BF8731EB base at BF800000). Pulled out the original RAm and put the Corsair RAM in slots 1 and 3 (where the 512s were). Got four beeps from the computer every few seconds but nothing else. Tried all four sticks of memory in all of the slots in paired combination but the best I could get was the BSOD shortly after boot up. At this point I'm assuming bad sticks and sending them back to newegg for replacement. If anyone has any other ideas I would really appreciate hearing what they are. Thanks. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 25, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 25, 2007 I am sorry but we do not list that system on our memory configurator, where did you see we suggest those modules?
theecmo
Actually I first used the configurator at newegg, but just before I posted I used the configurator you have and it was there recommending the same module/part number. http://www.corsair.com/configurator/system_results.aspx?id=64890
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 25, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 25, 2007 Sorry about that I was looking under Note Books. I would try and load setup defaults in the BIOS setup with just our modules installed then test with http://www.memtest.org and if you get errors please test them one at a time. theecmo
Thanks much for the idea. The sticks are on the way for replacement so if the new ones do the same thing at least I have a place to start this time around.

theecmo
RAM Guy, just as an update, the two new Corsair memory sticks arrived yesterday (DDR2 667Mhz). Put them in and this time they worked right out of the box. Looks like one or both of the last sticks were bad, these are working great. Thanks again for your help. DSHAH
I have an Inspiron 530 and did not use the configurator nor did I knew about it. Anyway, I bought 2gb (1gbx2) DDR2Twin2X Matched memory pair - Product ID CM2X1024-6400. I currently have 2 gb 667 mhz loaded onto the computer. Will these memory chips work? If not, what are my options DSHAH

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 24, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 24, 2008 You are welcome to try them since you have them already but I doubt they will as they need 1.9 Volts to operate properly and you would need to set the timings manually. But I would suggest using the memory that was suggested for your system.
