I fitted my new vx559 this morning as my old psu was not man enough for a new graphic card.

The pc powered up ok and ran for about 4 mins then shut down. If I powered it up again straight away it ran for a few seconds then shut down, if i powered it up after a few more minutes rest then back to 4 min run the shut down. I replaced my old psu in the pc and all was well.

system (old)

Asus A7N8x-E deluxe

amd 2800+

1.5 gig corsair ddr ram

2 seagate baracuda in raid 0

I did not try the shorting of cables bit but can only think the fan is faulty

I am in the UK and will return the unit to the supplier (long wait) can you help please

If possible I would try to test it in another system. If it looks like its defective, then let's get them or it replaced. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part! Or “Tech Support Express” and we will be happy to replace them or it, please note that you are posting from the forum!

Thanks for the reply. Like i said i am in England and have arranged to return the psu to the retailer in this country. i was just making sure i hadnt made a mistake (paranoid!!) and that when they replace the unit things go wrong again because of that.

Later...........shorted out the green and black cables this morning and the fan worked perfectly
