ralphf926
I'm in process of my first build and seem to have run into a problem. The power cables for the 4 and 8 pin connectors don't seem to be long enough. I have an Asus P5n32-E MOBO and CoolMaster CM-690 case. P/S is mounted on back bottom of case and both connectors are in top left corner of MOBO which is above P/S. I want to run the power cables around the board to the right to avoid both cpu, cpu cooler and pci cards. Even if I go in that direction I don't think the power cables will reach. I don't know how to get around this problem. Can you please advise so I can continue my build. Seems like in my case the 24 pin power cable is plenty long and the 4 and 8 pin power cords are too short.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 25, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 25, 2007 I would recommend that you run the 8-Pin connector up behind the motherboard and loop it around the top of the board and plug it into the board. This would require you to have the cable in place before you install the motherboard, but it will be a much cleaner install and allow you to keep the cable out of the way and you should have plenty of slack. ralphf926
I tried doing this but the cable is still not long enough. Too bad because this would make for a neat and clean appearance. Would it be OK to try an extender and put this cable under the MOBO? I've found a one foot female-male extender for 8 pin connector.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 25, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 25, 2007 An extension should be fine!
