So DRAM Voltage should be at least 2.1v??

Recommended Posts

Hey I have some Dominator XMS2 TWIN2X2048-8500C5D RAM I bought for my new system build...

I ran MemTest and I came back with some errors during test #5..

I've had errors before on my old system where I just had to ease off my timings a bit.. and I did so and it stopped reporting errors...

Anyway I hadn't touched my my DRAM Voltage setting either so I tried to set that to 2.1V.. which I think you say is what this should be at ?? Right??

I read a thread on here somewhere that said this particular RAM could be at 2.2v.. is that correct??

Anyway the point is... is it normal and does it make sense to get errors during MemTest on test #5 and then have it return a clean test after setting DRAM voltage to 2.1v??

Oh and how likely is it that not having the votage at the right settings would cause VISTA installation to freeze during "expanding files" phase??

Because that's what happened before I set my voltage to 2.1v .. therefore I was running installation with memory that was returning errors..

Many Thanks,

Ricardo

Please look at your module version. If it is v1.xxx then 2.2V is the proper setting and if it is v2.xxx then 2.1V is the proper setting.

Yes, this is normal as that DRAM needs far more than default voltage to run correctly. It is high end memory and need a high end voltage.

Yes, with not enough voltage set to the DRAM, then there will be issues and especially with the read/write/copy DRAM procedures
