bullshark
I ordered TWIN2X2048-6400C4 The package contains 2 sticks of CM2X1024-6400C4. 2.10V ver1.2 [1738558 07390578] I can't find this product (with the "G") on your website. I have been unable to get an Abit IP35 Pro to boot with it, it hangs with code "C1" (Memory) and the Abit guys are blaming on your RAM claiming that I need to get a stick of JEDEC compliant RAM to boot with so I can Jack the vDimm to 2.1v to make you memory work. I think not. But I'm not sure what product I have. What do you think? bullshark
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 22, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 22, 2007 Are you able to get into the BIOS with either module individually? If you can get into the BIOS you will want to load setup defaults and set the memory voltage to 2.1v.
bullshark
Are you able to get into the BIOS with either module individually? No, not with one stick or two in any slot or slot pair. This RAM shold boot at JEDEC defaults, right? I'm still confused about the "G" designation on the retail package SKU. regards, bullshark
Wired
Search is your friend :) "G" indicates that the part is RoHS compliant, although many older (before we started labeling them as "G") non "G" parts are RoHS compliant as well. Performance and reliability is the same.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 22, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 22, 2007 The "G" indicates that the part is RoHS compliant, this does not effect compatibility or performance. The modules should at least allow you into the BIOs at 1.8v. I would recommend clearing the CMOS and trying again in multiple slots. If possible, test the memory on a known working system as well. bullshark
Search is your friend :) Thank you. I did try a search, but it was for the whole part number. I noticed that some other lines had a G (or not) and ....anyway.... thanks bullshark
bullshark
I would recommend clearing the CMOS and trying again in multiple slots. If possible, test the memory on a known working system as well. That's all been done multiple times(except for trying the memory in working system. I'm hesitant to take down my working machine. Its an old A7N8X Deluxe with Athlon XP 2600+ in it. Would it/ should it work there? Thanks bullshark
Wired
Nope. That's a DDR1 system, and DDR1 and 2 aren't physically compatible w/ each other.
bullshark
Nope. That's a DDR1 system, and DDR1 and 2 aren't physically compatible w/ each other. But I have a Dremel! and a hammer! (c: Seriously, I didn't think so. Meanwhile, I'm still up the creek. No POST. Just "C1" on the on-board diagnostic. No BIOS settings, nada. It sounds like the RAM is bad, I'll probably just send it back. It seems like this RAM should boot with the IP35 Pro if its working. I see a lot of message about this RAM...maybe too good to be true; maybe I should get something else. Got an opinion there? regards, bullshark
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 22, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 22, 2007 If you have some other memory that you can test in your IP-35, I would suggest trying that. It is very rare that 2 modules would fail at the same time, and cause the same issues when tested individually, however if you would like to have the modules replaced, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part! Or “Tech Support Express” and we will be happy to replace them or it, please note that you are posting from the forum!
bullshark
It is very rare that 2 modules would fail at the same time ...That's what I thought too. At the moment, I am eggspressing some new RAM and we'll know more later. regards bullshark

bullshark
Let us know how it works out! If the memory is failing, we will definitely get it replaced! We'll know a lot more before too long. After a lot of checking the IP35 Pro appears to be a "Princess and the Pea" device. You could tell she was a princess 'cause she could detect a pea under 21 mattresses. We haven't spent the last 26 years carving out standards to make systems and parts incompatible. I don't have much tolerance for that kind of nonsense. I RMA'd for a refund, and am replacing it with an Asus P5E. More expensive, sure. But it will probably work with more than one PSU, and best of all CM2X1024-6400C4 is right on the approval list. It kind of looks like the guys at aBit think "+/- n" [in a specification] is a menu selection, or they didn't bother to add them all up, or they chose the most optimistic set to get the highest scores in some lamer game forum. I forgave the first board I received that was incomplete (component missing from back panel). Judging from the number and kind of messages in the ABit forums, my experience with IP35 Pro is not unique.

bullshark
Let us know if you have any problems with the new board! I have no problems except that the dang thing is so fast I keep going backwards in time. The RAM is perfect. Booted right up. Not only that, power supply (Antec TP3-550) that the ABit guys said was no good is perfectly fine. I need to get the vDimm up to 2.1 and timings down. The Asus P5E is fantastic. The quallity is an immense step up from the Abit product I got rid of. I don't know what I was thinking. I have always used Asus and never had a problem. OTOH It was all AMD and nForce too. I guess when I succumbed to the call of the C2D E6850, I figured that I should look at other boards for the Intel CPU. Wrong! My Bad. I was gonig to OC the oui-oui out of this thing but it's so smooth I don't think I'm going to bother. Its running at 24C and using 8 watts. That's room temp and slightly less power than a bumble bee. One thing is sure. If I hadn't come over here to check with you guys, I wouldn't have made the right choice. I had already started the RMA of the RAM and other things. But thanks to you I stopped, and got rid of the real problem. regards,
