brent c
Hello, I am having problems with a new build. Motherboard is Asus M2A-VM (AMD 690 Chipset All-in-one). There are no memory timings in motherboard, only volts. Ram is 2 sticks of CM2X1024-5400C4 1.90V Ver 7.1 (1736924-07401729) with advirtised timings of 4-4-4-12. First startup went without a hitch. Windows xp installed, drivers, programs...no problems. Then blue screen, then windows error messages, now XP will not load and computer is in a continous boot cycle as soon as xp tries to load. Blue Screen Error Message: page_fault_in_nonpaged_area X050. I have done research with the following answers: This Stop message usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective RAM, either main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM). Is there anyway to get this ram working in this motherboard? I have set the volts to 1.9 in the bios. Using bios 0804 (will upgrade tomorrow to 1408 - latest). I even try to reinstall windows and it blue screens after the formatting is completed... pls help, thanks. **update** I have 1 of the sticks in slot 2 of the motherboard and was able to reinstall windows and drivers. I have not tried the other stick of ram yet. I do not believe all is well though as I was able to get this far before everything went astray. I guess the next steps are downloading the latest bios and running memtest on each stick with disabling legacy usb support in the bios. Anything else or tips I should try? Usually a situation such as this has me thinking that you might well find that the board DRAM slots are wonky though. Memtest one by one, a single stick in all the DRAM slots. Results? brent c
Update #2. I placed the ram into slot 4, and a new installation succeeded! No blue screens. Now the issue is, that after windows applied the updates for SP2 and reboots, the computer comes back stating that windows has corrupted and I need to repair using the recovery CD. Thinking this is now a hard drive issue and the updates were written to some bad sectors which cannot be read...does this make sense. The problems began to arise the first time when the windows updates were installed as well...
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 22, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 22, 2007 What you have reported would suggest a driver issue, and you need to install the SP before you install anything else. I would suggest installing the O.S. fresh again and only install what you need to get SP2 installed, do not install the CPU driver till after SP2. brent c
UPDATE It seems that 1 of the 2 sticks I bought is faulty and it is not a hard drive issue as I previously thought. the bad stick is labelled as follows: CM2X1024-5400C4 1.90V ver 7.1 (4-4-4-12 @ 675mhz) 1734154 07400996. if this stick is in any of the slots when powering on, the computer either randomly reboots, blue screens, doesnt start period, or starts up in weird colors with no text. with only 1 stick in any of the slots (the good stick) the computer runs perfect. motherboard is Asus M2A-VM 0804 bios. only ram setting in bios is volts, it is currently set to 1.9. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 24, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 24, 2007 Average would be about 7-10 Business days if its international and yes you would have to ship them to us here if the reseller will not help you.
