dapullia
I am having issues transporting very large files (ISO Image sized of arround 5GB each). I try to copy them to my device and it complains that the flash drive is full though there is a full 15.1 GB Free on it. I am running Fat 32 as the file system. I have an older spinning type of portable micro harddrive (only 5 GB also formatted Fat 32) that I was replacing with this flash drive and it was able to handle the files just fine. I can load smaller size files onto the drive without a problem. Does anyone have any sugestions?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 19, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 19, 2007 That is a Fat file limitation, you can search for Fat File limitations and you will find a link on Wikipidia that is very useful.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 22, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 22, 2007 Please look here for the limitations! Max number of files FAT 12 = 4,077 (212-19) FAT 16 = 65,517 (216-19) FAT 32 = 268,435,437 (228-19) Max filename size 8.3 filename, or 255 UTF-16 characters when using LFNs Max volume size 32 MiB = Fat12 2 GiB = Fat 16 4 GiB = Fat32 (with 64k clusters (not widely supported) 8 TiB) However with some flash drives because of the cluster size even if you format in Fat32 the max number may be the same as FAT 16 or Fat 12. Petmonster
Okay, thats kind of what I was thinking you'd point out, however I just wanted to be sure. Appreciate the response. Since posting originally, I've formatted the drive to NTFS. And, as before, the drive seems be behaving erratically. It seems to feel the need to stop responding in the middle of a file transfer. I can cut/paste/drag/drop files into it and you'll see the flash drives light begin to go, then it'll just stop. Size doesn't seem to be a factor, at least. Its locked up transfering a 1gb file and a 1mb file, as well as everything in between. This has been happening mainly on a WinXP Pro /SP2 machine. I had planned on using this for work since I do alot of IT in the office, but I can't have it begin locking up the users machines when I try and access stuff off of it. My home system is Win Vista Ultimate 64 bit, and that seems to work a bit more reliably, however its also stopped responding on that machine as well a couple times.
