Babylon
I'm planning to get 4GB of TWIN2X2048-6400C4. Is that gonna work alright with this board, or do you recommend me to go with some other ram? I'm not that interested in overclocking, if it could be good performance without the need of overclocking it would be great. CPU: QUAD Q6600 GFX: BFG GeForce 8800Ultra OC

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 18, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 18, 2007 Just set the memory frequency at DDR667 and set the memory voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH Chipset Voltage to + .05 Volts and you should be good to go. Babylon
So I shouldn't change the timings to 4-4-4-12 or anything? Cause I assume that they are gonna be at 5-5-5-18 if I go with the SPD auto settings.

Babylon
So for example if the bios set it to 5-5-5-18, I shouldn't change it manually to 4-4-4-12? Isn't lesser timings better? My knowledge about this things aren't the best as you might understand. Appreciate your help.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 18, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 18, 2007 You are welcome to try anything you like, but you asked me what I would suggest with 4 modules and I gave you my suggestion. Certainly if you want to try more aggressive settings go for it they may run with 4 up at DDR667 at Cas 4-4-4-12 but I would test the system with http://www.memtest.org to make sure its stable. Babylon
Yes that's right, I asked what you would suggest and I will probably go with that to too. So with 4 modules it just runs at DDR667? But at DDR800 with only 2? I don't even know if I really need 4 modules.

DerekT
I would advise you to purchase 2 X 2048 of TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX. You will not have the issues that you very likely will have with 4 X 1024 DRAM sticks. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145176

Babylon
Thanks for the advise! I assume that the non DHX version works just as well? So how does these ones do compared to the other ones asuming that I got the TWIN2X2048-6400C4 running at DDR800 at 4-4-4-12? I've got a friend that has gotten his 2x TWIN2X2048-6400C4 to run at DDR800 at 4-4-4-12 stable. But then he got an other mobo then me, Asus P5K-E/WIFI-AP iP35. You should have no problems with 2x TWIN2X2048-6400C4 to run at DDR2800 with 4-4-4-12 and that board. You will have to set the timings manually and the Vdimm to 2.1v. You have picked good components. It's a faster module, but is a 2GB kit.
