DerekT
You have an HP/Compaq mainboard, and I would not suggest any DRAM other than Value Select modules. Such as VS1GB667D2 http://www.shopbot.ca/default.asp?kw=VS1GB667D2&position=search

uchu
Thanks for the replies. I was able to get the VS2GBKIT667D2 Dual Channel Memory Kit for my computer. It's not the same recommended at Corsair's memory configurator (VS2GBKIT533D2), but as I got it for free, I gave it a shot. I was able to get it running OK, but it only accepts one memory module (on top of the 2x512Kb originally in the computer). Whenever I try to add the second module, my computer won't start, it just starts beeping on and off. I tried all possible combinations of the modules in the correspoding sockets, but the only one that works is: 1GB, 512KB, 512KB for the corresponding sockets 1, 2 and 3 (4 left empty). Is this related to the fact that I'm using a different memory module from the recommended one? Thanks again!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 22, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 22, 2007 Please try the system with just our modules one at a time and test them with http://www.memtest.org to be sure.
uchu
Thanks again for the suggestion. I ran memtest on the one Corsair module that is currently installed in my computer; it did not find any errors after 2 passes. The other module must be really busted! When installed alone, the computer just won't run the start up, not even run the bootable CD with memtest. The processor just keep beeping on and off. Any ideas? Thks! :D:
