Tangman85
Okay, I have heard that 4 sticks can be tricky (dunno if this board is NP), could you help me out ram guy to give me heads up on what to pay attention to when installing and configuring in BIOS? Thanks in advance :)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 17, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 17, 2007 Should be no problem at all just load setup defaults and then set the memory Voltage to 1.9 Volts and set the timings to Cas 5-5-5-15 and you should be good to go! Tangman85
1.9? It says 1.8 in the PDF. http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/TWIN2X2048-6400C5DHX.pdf
DerekT
Yes, but you are doubling the DRAM to 4 slots and a bit more juice is preferable when you populate all four dram banks. The settings on the modules are the optimal for 2 banks populated.

Tangman85
Reading a bit in the other threads concerning 4sticks of ram, I will be forced to drop them down to 667MHz? I would very much like to be able to run them at 800MHz, is this in any way possible? If not, for gaming purposes, is there a big difference between 667 and 800mhz memory? Thanks in advance. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 22, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 22, 2007 Running 4 modules at DDR800 is hit and miss, but if your PSU is marginal for your system configuration you might not get them to run stable. And there is no way I can say you can or cannot make it work. You just have to try it and go from there. Its suggested that you run the memory at DDR667 with more than two installed. But with 4 modules I would set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts and set the MCH/NB Chipset voltage to +.05 Volts and then test the system there is a good chance it will work depending on the system configuration and make and model of CPU, MB, and PSU. DerekT
I would very much like to be able to run them at 800MHz, is this in any way possible? Go with 2 X 2048 of 6400C5DHX and you will not have any issues with 800Mhz and 4GB. That's the best advice I can give. Sell the other DRAM and go with 2 sticks. My PSU shouldn't be a problem, its a Corsair HX620, Mobo is IP35-E and CPU is a E6850, GPU 8800GTS 320 - I believe I have a few watts to spare. I will be building my machine tomorrow and would just like to confirm the Voltages, MCH/NB is +0.05V and my memory should be ran at 1.9 or 2.0? Since you have stated both those values throughout the replies. I will try working with 800MHz and do some MEMTEST86 tries and such, see how it fares, otherwise 667 shouldn't be too big of a problem, but theoretically for 800MHz on these as unrecommended as it is, just keep giving them more power? or just back off at 2V or perhaps give NB a bit more power? I don't want to push it too far though. Priorities are 1. Stability and safety - 2. 800MHz memory EDIT: I forgot to ask, what timings should I use with 4 Modules? Same as with 2? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 25, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 25, 2007 Just use the Auto settings with 4 modules, but you are welcome to tweak them, but I would suggest testing with http://www.memtest.org to make sure its stable.
