Wildman95GS-T
Hi, i have been looking for a third stick of CMX512-2700LLPT to add to the two i already have. I found one at newegg and got it today. The [ackage bar code label says CMX512-2700LLPT, the sticker on the heat spreader says CMX512-2700LLPT with a timing of 2-3-2-5. I installed it with the other two sticks with timing at 2-2-2-5. My two sticks stayed the same the new stick reads 3-3-3-7. I removed my two and installed only the new stick and the timing in auto and by SPD was 2.5-3-3-7. And everest also detects it as CMX512-2700C2 not CMX512-2700LL. There are two memory frequencies @166mhz 2.5-3-3-7 and @133mhz 2.0-3-3-6. What gives here
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 17, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 17, 2007 I am sorry but XMS2700LL is no longer available, I would suggest sending it back to the reseller and see if they can replace it. Other wise we will be happy to replace them for you but I would suggest getting them all replaced as we would likely replace them with something else. And the Spec for XMS2700LL was changed to Cas 2-3-2-5 several years ago.
Wildman95GS-T
I understand that Corsair does not manufacture CMX512-2700LLPT anymore, but this does not explain why the module is labeled as such and is recognised as CMX512-2700C2. It looks to me like Corsair installed platinum heat spreaders on some cheep memory and sold it to Newegg as high speed CMX512-2700LLPT. This is not good for the reputation of a company such as Newegg. Even the CMX512-2700C2 modules have a memory timing latency of 2 not 2.5 like this module has. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 17, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 17, 2007 That is obviously a mistake but we would need to see the module to know what is the exact cause of the error.
Wildman95GS-T
I have contacted Newegg customer service and they gave an option to get a full refund or they would replace it. How good is Corsair's quality control ? Do you think this is an isolated "mistake" or do you feel that Newegg's entire lot could be bad ? Their rep did strongly recommend me getting a refund to prevent getting another bad module and having to go thru shipping another one back. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 18, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 18, 2007 I have not seen this as I remember so I would have to say it is more than likely a odd incident, however I would suggest setting the tested settings manually and test the module by it self Cas 2-3-2-5 at 2.75 Volts to make sure. Wildman95GS-T
I am a little confused about ram voltage requiements, when i was looking for replacement ram for my system a few weeks ago, one of my requirement was to meet the motherboard manufactuer spec for ram ddr333 2.5v. The CMX512-2700LLPT modules i purchased on e-bay said 2.5v so i did not change anything in my bios, it is default at 2.5v. I have been running them this way for the past two weeks and have had not problems. You are sugesting that i up the DRAM voltage regulator to 2.8v ? Wired
Don't believe eBay, believe the manufacturer :) The XMS DDR1 series were tested @ 2.75v and rated up to, but not over, 2.90 volts.

Wildman95GS-T
Thanks, I have set my DRAM voltage regulator to 2.8v and all is good so far. I downloaded memtest86+ 1.6 and 1.7, followed directions and can not get it to run. I do not get the page that is shown on their web site, all i keep getting is, the loading with dots followed bt a string of letters and numbers in the left side of my monitor, like this: @x1000 changes to 400 AX:0212 BX:1A00 CX:0001 DX:0100 Same sequence over and over ? No eror mesages or system identification ? What am i doing wrong ? I would like to make sure all is stable.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 19, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 19, 2007 You need to format the Floppy from a command Prompt with the /U switch and if there are any bad sectors get another floppy.
