dueceone
I have two 2GB kits of CM2X1024-6400C4, puchased about a month ago. Everything worked fine until recently. I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate x64, 3Ware 9650SE-8LPML, 3 Seagate 320GB 7200.10, 3 Maxtor branded Seagate 320GB 7200.10, EVGA 8800 GTS 320MB, SoundBlaster Audigy, Plextor PX-755SA & PX-810SA, on an Abit IP35Pro with a Q6600 CPU. After about two weeks of running solid with all four stick installed, I begin getting BSOD's almost hourly referencing a Page Fault in a non-paged area. This was followed, after a few days, by the IRQL error someone else reported earlier in the forum. After reading up on the forum here, I removed one Kit and tried to boot, nothing even with two sticks... Still BSOD. I tired the other kit, same result. Here is where it gets wierd... Each stick will boot individually but any combination of these DIMM sticks will not load Windows... I even tried reinstalling Vista and XP and it BSODs before I can even get to the install screen. After reading the issues others have had, I thought it may be a problem with my MB running multiple DIMMs but I boworred four 1GB Ballistix DIMMs (4-4-4-12 PC6400) from my brother's PC and it booted up just fine and ran all night without issue. Slapped my memory in his PC and... tadah.. BSOD on boot. Each stick is apparently fine on its own but they absolutely refuse to "play nice" when together. Any idea's whats up here? The fact that they work on their own made me think it wasnt memory but that my system runs fine with my bro's ******** DIMMs and his wont boot with my corsair's I'm guessing it has to be the memory. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 16, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 16, 2007 With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 and the memory Voltage should be set to 2.1 Volts as well. In addition, if you are using Windows Vista there is a patch you will need to install for 3 gig or more of memory with that O.S.
dueceone
I actually tried backing it all the way down to 533 without success. Even so though, thats a bit of a jip, I bought 800 Mhz RAM but it will only work at 667??? That doesnt seem right at all. Not to mention, it was working fine for weeks at 800 before any issues and the four sticks I pulled from my bro's machine worked at 800. The >3GB patch was installed before this all started. dueceone
Yeah, this was about as helpful as stubbing your toe on the way to piss at night. I think I'll just go ahead and scrap these four sticks and consider the $200 money spent to learn never to deal with Corsair again since their customer service is a joke. $180 will get four of the Ballistix sticks in my bro's computer and those seem to work just fine in my config, run faster too. Thanks for all your help (sarcasm).
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 17, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 17, 2007 Some boards will require you to overclock the chipset in order to get 4 modules to run at DDR800, this is why we recommend setting it to 667MHz to see if it works. If the modules work individually there is probably not an issue with the modules themselves. Here is the Microsoft patch that you will need http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929777, and you will also want to make sure you have the memory voltage set to 2.1 volts.
