alantay
I have K8N NEO Platinum Mobo Running CMX512-3200 C2PT (TWINX 1024) with no problems, but i have recently upgraded to vista and wanted a boost in memory, Anyway my m8 give me 1 stick of CMX1024-3200PT, but I cant get them to run together. Original is 2.3.3.6 and new one is 3.3.3.8. if this helps Out come is the system boots fine but once os loads it blue sceen then restarts Is it actually possible to run these together but settings in the bios or should i give up now. DerekT
It is never a good idea to mix and match memory modules. It is a crap shoot. Sometimes they work, sometimes not. If you intend on trying to get them to run, then set the timings manually to the highest timed modules 3-3-3-8 and the DRAM voltage (Vdimm) to 2.7v. You may also need to manually drop the throughput to 333Mhz from 400 to achieve stability.
alantay
Thanks Derek that would mean me changing settings in the bios, never messed with this before, but there is always a first for everything. Could you possibly point me in the correct direction. this is what i have: DRAM Configuration (the setting in brackets is what it is now) 1: Max Memclock = (Auto) - 200 - 166 - 133 - 100 2: 1T/2T Memory Timing = (2T) - 1T - Auto 3: CAS# Latency Tcl = (Auto) - 3.0 - 2.5 - 2.0 4: RAS# To CAS# Delay Trcd = (Auto) - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 5: Min RAS# Active Time Tras = (Auto) - 15 - 14 - 13 - 12 - 11 - 10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 6: Row Percharge Time Trp = (Auto) - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 7: Aggressive Timing = (Disabled) - Enabled 8:DRAM Drive Strength = (Normal) - Weak

alantay
Na Derek still got blue screen but it took about 40 seconds longer before it happened. Think i will ditch that idea. By looking at the settings i gave you could you recomend a small tweak for the memory (Twinx CMX512-3200C2PT 400HZ x2 ) These were purchased as a matched pair and have worked great for 2 years. Just to help vista run more smoothly till i can afford to upgrade properly. Thanks for your help P.S Would you say that stick of memory works ok, as i might put it on Ebay but if its faulty i dont want bad feedback. Download memtest http://www.memtest.org. Burn the Image to your optical drive. Shut the system down, remove the two kit sticks, and install the single stick. Boot to the optical drive and allow at least 2 full passes to show error free. Be certain to set the DRAM to 3.3.3.8. If it shows error free, then you are good to sell. There really isn't much of a tweak on that dual channel kit as it runs pretty fast already at stock.
alantay
so i burn memtest to a disc then set up system like you told me to last night then with only the new memory in, set my sytem to boot from the memtest disc "like i would do if i was installing an os"
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 17, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 17, 2007 Yes but you have to use the Burn Image command in your CD recording software.
