daemon
Hi, my computer died on me one day bad and so I had to RMA my motherboard and CPU. To be sure that my memory was fine, or not, I gave memtest a run testing each stick at 4-4-4-12 and 5-5-5-18 timings both times with 2.1v. One stick was fine but the other stick gave me over 10,000 errors during test #4. I issued a support form and my case number is 285044 if it helps to speed things up. daemon
What is the turn around time as Corsair has had my RMA'd kit since OCt. 29th? Could they be busy with returns? Is that why its taken a while to process my RMA?

daemon
Hi, I just wanted to give my thanks to RAM GUY and Corsair's customer and technical support for a great 1st time RMA with them. I got the replacement kit today, and even though it took a bit to get everything up and running, its running smoothly now. Thanks http://www.pixelhaus.co.uk/images/thumbs-up.jpg

daemon
Ah crap, I think I spoke too soon. Not even one day has past and within a few hours after I installed the two replacement sticks my computer became unstable. 1) I got a few random reboots without a BSOD, and 2) when I turn on my computer it hangs during post. I have came to a conclusion that one stick is faulty after doing some tests. I had my memory timings set to 5-5-5-15 tiimings with 2.1V. I tried one memory stick at a time in each DIMM slot and one of them worked fine but the other memory stick makes my computer hang during POST. I tried using a different motherboard BIOS but that didn't help. I also tried resetting the CMOS but again it didn't help. Now whenever I have both sticks installed my computer hangs during POST and locks up. I can't even reboot using the "Ctrl+Atl+Delete" keyboard button combination I am not very pleased at the moment. I issued another case# 317319
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 9, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 9, 2007 Can you please list your complete system specifications as well as all bios settings you have set for voltages, the CPU, and memory. It is very unusual for an user to get 2 consecutive failures which may suggest another issue.
daemon
It is very unusual for an user to get 2 consecutive failures which may suggest another issue. I find that hard to believe since I had two DOA XFX 650i Ultra in the past. I'll post my hardware specs and BIOS settings but that won't make a difference as I have tried each stick one at a time in each memory slot on my motherboard and the results were that one memory stick booted into windows without any issues and the other memory stick made my computer hang during POST. Both of the times when I tried each stick individually the BIOS setttings were the same. Posting my system specifications and BIOS settings won't help solve this problem since one memory stick worked fine and the other did not. I'll post my specs anyway but I don't see what use it would have since I tested each stick on its own and found out that one stick works fine and one does not. Hardware: Intel E2140 EVGA 680i-SLI A1 Mushkin PC2-5300 1GB (temporarily using since my memory Corsair Dominator kit is faulty) XFX 7900GT Hiper 730W Type-M Here is a screenshot of the "NVIDIA Monitor" showing the BIOS settings and temperatures: http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c312/werty316/ab6d6af6.jpg (I currently do not have the 2x1GB PC2-6400 Cosair Dominators installed with these settings)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 9, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 9, 2007 According to your screenshot you have the CPU at: 374 FSB X 8 multi = 2992MHz The default for this CPU is: 200 FSB X 8multi = 1600MHz You are running at almost double the default settings at the default voltage, I would recommend loading setup defaults and try the memory once more. If one module is still not booting then contact our RMA department directly and they will get it replaced for you. You can contact our customer service at 888-222-4346 and dial "0", (510) 657-8747 or email rmaservice@corsairmemory.com.
daemon
I already tried that since I said clearing the CMOS didn't help and if I am not mistaken clearing the CMOS resets all BIOS settings which would also set my CPU to its original state of "200 FSB X 8multi = 1600MHz"
