P5B -E with Intel X38

The P5B-E employs the i965 chipsets. The X38 is a chipset itself. There is no such thing as a P5B-E with a X38 chipset.

The ASUS P5E, P5E3 Deluxe, Maximus Formula, are all X38 based motherboards. If these are what you are requesting information about, you are correct. The Memory Configurator has yet to be updated with X38 chipset based boards.

Thanks - Its a pity that Asus confuses the issue with so many similarly 'named' boards!

Thanks I had this list which seems not to have changed in a long time. According to the manual for the P5E ALL ddr2 8800 memory will be down graded to DDR2 667. but this list shows no information relating to 8500C5 memory and yet the manual implies its use as it mentions a fsb of 1066 when using DDR2 modules.

In fact looking at the list that came with my 2 year old Asus board it seems to be identical.

Thanks for all your help
