Failed Memory tests

Recommended Posts

I have an ASUS P5W DH motherboard which has TWIN1X1048-6400C4 memory installed. I purchased two more sticks of memory, again it was TWIN2X1048-6400C4. Then I began having problems.

I bumped the voltage to 2.1 volts and disabled USB Legacy in the bios.

Got errors with Memtest tests 3 and 4.

I then tested the original memory (two sticks) got only one error with test 8.

I then began testing the sticks individually. One of the two original sticks returned the error with test 8, the other stick passed.

The new sticks: One stick passed, the other stick had massive errors.

I reran Memtest one stick at a time using the same memory slot each time. I got the same results.

Ram Guy any ideas?

Thanks!

Please make sure you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard, load setup defaults in the BIOS and then set the memory voltage to 2.1v. With four of these modules you may need to lower the memory frequency to 667MHz, however if you tested them individually at 2.1 volts and 2 out of 4 modules are giving you errors, then we should probably just get them replaced. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part! Or “Tech Support Express” and we will be happy to replace them or it, please note that you are posting from the forum!
