pee4
Got my 2 x 1GB kit of Corsair DDR2 8500C5DF Dominator RAM with fan. What a total piece of junk. This stuff is not for the enthusiast. Won't run 5.5.5.15 @ 1200mhz 2.1v Won't run 4.4.4.12 @ 1000mhz 2.1v This RAM cost me a fortune - way more expensive than other brands. We don't buy this stuff to run at spec. Giant heatspreaders and 3 fans.... what a joke.....
Wired
Does it do 1066MHz at latencies of 5-5-5-15-2T at 2.1 VDIMM? For OC, what voltage are you setting it at?
pee4
Hi I "think" it's okay at 1066 mhz. I have had one blue screen of death a few days ago during a windows XP boot. This is definitely not something I'm used to. I rebooted and all has been well since. Hmmm.... I've tried overclocking with voltages up to 2.2v (the max supported voltage for this RAM according to these forums). As I see it, Corsair sell RAM in 3 performance categories: 1. Value Select 2. XMS 3. Dominator This RAM should be marketed as Value Select. It definitely shouldn't be marketed as Dominator. I've used a lot of Corsair in a lot of PC's for a lot of people. This 8500C5DF makes me completely sick in stomach to think of the money I've spent and how useless it is. It's bad for Corsair's reputation. Yes. They got my money this time. But will they ever get it again? I feel very badly let down by Corsair. Thanks

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 15, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 15, 2007 Please make sure that you have the latest Bios version and then load setup/optimized defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.0 volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test. And these modules are not tested at 1200 MHz if you wanted memory that would run at that speed you may have wanted our I would have suggested out Twin2x2048-8888C4DF modules.
