mcgomer
I have an issue that sounds just like the one talked about here. http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?p=5253010 The box cycles on and off forever. I dont have another box to test the ps in, so was wondering if there were any other tests I could do. No beeps, just continuous on and off. The system doesnt get to the post, so no video either. PS : HX 620 W, mb : gigabyte ga-p35 d6q rev 1.0, processor : q6600 The system is about 2 months old, and was working fine up until this morning. Update: I reseated and reconnected everything again and it seems to be working now. I am able to reboot multiple times successfully. Hopefully this is just a false alarm Thanks Paul

mcgomer
 Well it happened again. ( See original msg ) One thing that is common between the two occurrences is that it happens after a "hybernate". I have the system set to hybernate after an hour idle. This morning when I went to wake it up, it started the cycle'ing again. This is the same scenario as last time. It was on a wake up from an overnight hybernate. Any suggestions? Power supply? Motherboard? I will reseat everything again and see if it works again. Thanks Paul
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 30, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 30, 2007 I would think there is some other issue than the PSU. The motherboard is what tells the PSU when to power on and off and if the motherboard is going out of spec on boot up, then the PSU will shut down due to the over current and over voltage circuits built into it. The only way to know for sure, would be to test the PSU in a known working system. However if you would like to try getting it replaced, then please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part! Or “Tech Support Express” and we will be happy to replace it, please note that you are posting from the forum!
mcgomer
Instead of reseating everything, I pulled the plug on the PSU and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then tried starting it again and it booted fine. Hmmmm. BTW, Thanks for the help. Paul
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 30, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 30, 2007 That might suggest a ACPI/ BIOS issue, do you have the latest BIOS? And do you have all of the drivers installed for the MB and or CPU?
mcgomer
Thanks again for the suggestion. I will check and make sure. Paul

DerekT
I would not run Hibernate. That is basically for notebooks with special power settings when power runs down. You will not have this issue in a workstation. Enter your BIOS power settings and set for S3 Mode. Click Start --> Run --> powercfg.cpl <enter> --> Hibernate Tab == Uncheck --> Power Scheme Tab == Set your System Standby to whatever time you wish it to power down. All fans will stop and when you press the power button, it will startup where you left off. This is the best route for power saving and keeping your system stable.
