Tangman85
Hi. I am going to get an Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 The memory supported vendor list shows the following: CM2X1024-8500C5 My question is as follows, is the following ram that my salesman said the same ram as the motherboard will support? CORSAIR DDR2 XMS2-8500 NON-ECC EPP DHX (My salesman wrote it like this) TWIN2X2048-8500 - Is this the actual correct kit? Also, is this the same memory as is stated on the Memory Supported List? if not, then please can I know what memory CM2X1024-8500C5 is in a KIT so I know what to buy? Thanks in advance. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 11, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 11, 2007 Twin2x2048-8500C5 /C5D would be the same part and will work the same and both sets would be made with Two CM2X1024-8500XX modules.
Tangman85
Thanks, just to confirm. By the same part, you mean kit? 2xCM2X1024-8500C5 Modules, create Twin2x2048-8500C5 kit?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 11, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 11, 2007 By the Same Part I mean they are Built with the same memory IC's and are essentially the same module, just different package out side.
Tangman85
So both should work without any problems? I'm sorry if I sound very distant, but I'm not good with all these things and I don't want to pay for something that may end up causing me problems because I don't know how to solve them. Offtopic: The memory configurator link you have, is that guaranteed by corsair to work? Memory Y and Motherboard X, both on the homepage listed as a match, it is 100% to work? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 11, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 11, 2007 So both should work without any problems? A: Yes but all of the modules you install should match. Offtopic: The memory configurator link you have, is that guaranteed by corsair to work? Memory Y and Motherboard X, both on the homepage listed as a match, it is 100% to work? A: That is a bit tricky to answer, because we also list over clocked modules and some MB's may be listed with a aggressive part and will work but may not at the modules tested settings with our some extreme over clocking of CPU and chipset. However all of our modules are tested at the rated speed on a MB at the rated speed before they leave our factories. So as long as your system meets the tested spec of our test systems yes should not be a problem. I would suggest doing a bit more research on the specific MB and modules you are interested in to verify compatibility. Reference: Please look up your Module part# in XMS Qualification and Testing!. All of our XMS modules are listed by part# along with the tested settings we use. You can also look up the MB in our Corsair Labs Performance Reports! if the MB is new it might not be listed but you can search by MB model of by module and see what MB's we tested from any manufacturer. Tangman85
Hm, I hope you don't mind another question ram guy ;) I checked out the memory configurator for my pc8500 module, it was listed. http://www.corsairmemory.com/configurator/product_results.aspx?id=160737 Theoretically, all I have to do now on the GA-P35-DS3 motherboard is put in memory sticks, put to required VDIMM, set memory to 1066 in BIOS save and reboot, done! Did I miss anything? It was listed under overclocker, does that mean I have to overclock the memory or just do what I said?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 17, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 17, 2007 Well almost: Please make sure that you have the latest Bios version and then load setup/optimized defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.1 volts (+.3 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have.
