Uncletaz
Dear all, I having difficulty enabling my freshly purchased modules in my mb. Here is the mobo: Asus M2N-E SLI Corsair 2x1GB DDR2 SDRAM PC6400 CL4.0 TwinX Dominator (TWIN2X2048-6400C4DHX) This is what happens when plugging in the modules (same colour slots): 1 Computer starts up 2 An audio warning occurs before even seeing anything on the screen 3 1x long, 2x short (repeating) I guess this means a memory fault This is what I have already tried: 1 All possible positions and combo's 2 Bios update -no result- The "old" memory workes just fine (also corsair, but simple module). What should I do?
DerekT
These 6400C4's are high end modules and need more voltage than the lower end throughput modules. Set your old modules into the motherboard. Enter the BIOS and set: Jumperfree Configuration: AI Tuning: Manual DDR Voltage Control: 2.1V Memory Configuration: Memory Clock Frequency: Manual Memclock Value: 800Mhz TCL: 4 TRCD: 4 TRP: 4 TRAS: 12 1T/2T Memory Timing: 2T
Uncletaz
I have also changed the SDRAM voltage to 1.95 (that's as high as she will go) without changing the memory config. I guess I will try that when I get home. Only increasing the voltage would have no effect, would it?
DerekT
That ram needs 2.1 volts to run correctly with 4-4-4-12. If you can't make 2.1v, then leave them at Auto. http://www.corsairmemory.com/_datasheets/TWIN2X2048-6400C4.pdf Try this. Enter your BIOS with the old RAM. Load setup defaults. Save Setup Defaults. Shut down. Replace with the new DRAM. Results?
Uncletaz
You are sure? I can read that it is tested at that setting, however I have seen more posters on this forum who used such memory with lower voltages. Here it is listed in the compatibility list: http://www.corsairmemory.com/configurator/product_results.aspx?id=5233#other_modules
Uncletaz
Ok here's what i've done: I have followed your first advice and entered all the settings in the Bios and restarted with new modules. No luck. Then I have started with old modules and loaded setup defaults. Saved it and restarted with modules. No luck. I am getting the fealing that I should request an RMA with my supplier :[pouts:
DerekT
Do you have another machine you can test them in?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 11, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 11, 2007 With just the new modules installed did you try and clear the BIOS and see if the system will post? If you did and they will still not post let's get them replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them. Uncletaz
That did not help either. I will be using the RMA form now, I guess.

Uncletaz
Hi Ram Guy, I just received approval for a RMA from the store I bought the modules from. This would save us some shipping costs  I have seen that another topic was started for the same motherboard regarding the best modules to use, so I will post my comments there... Thanks for the support!
