Mike Housley
I have been running my Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI board with Corsair TWINX1024-3200XLPT 1GB Kit DDR400 XMS3200 Dual-Channel Xtra-Low Latency Memory since Jan '05 with no problems. I recently bought and tried to add 2 gb of CMX1024-3200C2PT (XMS3202v1.6) to the board and it will not run stable with the old ram, and will not post at all alone. Could I have possibly received some bad ram? tia Mike Housley
DerekT
If you are going to run with all four Dimm banks populated then you will very likely have to drop a DRAM speed and set your motherboard to run with a Command Rate (Command Per Clock) of 2T. to run with stability. You would do far better to sell the 2 X 512 DRAM sticks and run with the 2 X 1024. It will be a far more responsive system with 2 X 1024 than 2 X 1024 plus 2 X 512. DerekT
Turn your computer off. Insert the other set of Memory. Restart your system. Enter the BIOS. Load Default settings, save default settings and shut the system down. Remove the sticks of Memory and insert the 2 X 1024 sticks. Restart. Results?
