jadyn35
Hello, I have a brand new Sony Vaio VGN-CR115E/P. I couldn't find the model number on the corsair memory configurator, so instead I looked at the compatible memory for the Vaio VGN-CR120E/P and found VS2GSDS667D2 (2GB module). Since both systems have the exact same details (max memory, # expansion slots, CPU, 800mHz FSB) shouldn't this module be compatible with my notebook also? I'm currently running 1gb on a Vista 32-bit OS. I was thinking of buying one 2GB module for now, but would eventually like to max it out. However, I've read that if you're using a 32-bit OS then only 3GB will be recognized. I have 2 expansion slots for memory modules and was wondering if it's okay to have 1x2GB and 1x1GB for a total of 3GB, OR do both modules have to match, meaning i'd have to buy 2x2GB anyway. Any help would be much appreciated! THANKS!
DerekT
Hi, This model has a memory Dual Channel Mode and to receive the faster data transfer benefits of your Dual Channel 667Mh DDR2 DRAM, any DRAM additions require memory modules of same capacity, clockspeed and timings to enact Dual Channel Mode. You should be able to forgo this mode if you wish and install a 2GB SODIMM and run with 3GB. VISTA seems to run fine on 2GB though.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 10, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 10, 2007 I am sorry but if the system is not listed in our memory configurator, I would suggest using a module that was suggested by the NB manufacturer, especially with SONY as they use a Micro SO-Dim on some models and our modules may not work.
