Lutin
Hey, I installed a memory module VS512SDS333 in my Dell Inspiron 510m. Since then I got some errors when I want to switch off the notebook. Errors are like this: 0x000000c2 (0x00000007, 0x00000CD4, 0X142B020B, 0XE3DAE600) I read about a memory test on this forum (memtest86) and ran it but it looked ok. Does someone have an idea how to fix this? :) Thanks in advance.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 8, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 8, 2007 Please make sure that you have the latest bios and load setup defaults and then test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure one is not failing. I was hesitating to upgrade the BIOS because there is a bug in it switching the fan off on some systems... but I finally did the upgrade (in my case the fan is always working lol) to see if the error is still there. Problem is that I don't have the bad pool caller error each time I switch off so I have to wait and see :) The memory test found no errors. EDIT: error is still there and now when restarting the system too...
Lutin
When selecting "bios all" in the memory test it gives 18 errors now and the test blocks... :)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 9, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 9, 2007 Yes it will, did you read the read me about that on the memtest web site? Just use the default tests.

Ok sorry, read the faq there now. The default tests are ok, it ran for some hours, will try again for a longer time this night. Strange that the error started when I added the memory but maybe it's a coincidence? What kind of checks can I do to locate the problem in case it's not the memory? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 9, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 9, 2007 Bad Pool caller would suggest a driver or resource problem, have you checked with the NB Manufacturer for the latest BIOS and driver support? And I would just test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to make sure one is not failing. Also when you changed the modules did you load setup defaults in the BIOS setup? Yes, I updated the BIOS and drivers to the latest version but the error still occurs, set an old BIOS version back and re-updated to the newest version. Now I removed both memory modules and reinstalled one by one. When I install only the Corsair module in place A the notebook refuses to start. When I only place the module installed by Dell (only 256MB Ram) it starts normally. When I place the module installed bij Dell in place A and the Corsair module in place B both modules are recognized. Now I have to wait again to see if and when the error occurs. Does the fact that he refuses to start when installing the Corsair module in place A say something about compatibility of the module?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 10, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 10, 2007 Yes it might suggest there is a problem with that Module, let's get it replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it. And I would not suggest mixing these modules.

Not using one of 256 and another of 512 or not to use modules from different manufacturers in the same system?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 10, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 10, 2007 Both; I would not suggest mixing memory on any system for best performance.

Ok, tried a last time (before getting it replaced) to insert Corsair module in DIMM A and now it works without error until now, strange. Plus probably also a conflict with the memory installed by Dell (Elpida) that I removed. If it gives no error anymore in the next days I will buy a second module of 512MB from Corsair. :)
