help needed with overclocking

Recommended Posts

i'm having a few difficulties with my rig when overclocking it. specs: asus p4p800, 1 gig(2 x 512) corsair ddr400 twin x, p4 2.6c(800fsb), enermax 460w psu, hercules radeon 9800 pro. 2 36gig raptors running off the mobo sata channels and 1 120gig w/d on a pci sata adapter. im running the fsb at 230 (x 4) cpu oc'd at 3gig,default voltage, (pci/agp) at 33/66, but can only acheive this fsb when i set the memory to 266(instaed of the default 400) with timings of 3.3.3.7 . the system has been running like this for the last 24 hours running simultaneously: premier pro decoding 2 hour mpeg2 movie, super pi caluculating pi to the greatest degree it can, winrar compressing a 4gig file and a load of other stuff.. so it pretty stable ive tried the memory at 320 and 400 with differing voltages but fails to post at 400 and freezes at login at 320? any ideas? help whould be aprieciated.

ok i think ive got to the bottom of it.. the bios lists available manual memory speeds of 266, 320?? and 400... this seems to be an error what it actualy does is change the cpu/memory ratio from 1/1 3/2 5/4... so when i had it set to 400 and a fsb of 230 the memory was actually running at 460... probably why it wasnt bootting..... :)
