marcreichman
Hi, I have a system with a SuperMicro P4DP6 board (http://supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Xeon/E7500/P4DP6.cfm) and dual Xeon 2.4 Ghz (400 FSB) that's been running for quite some time with 4 512M DDR266 sticks of memory (unknown manufacturer). I've tried to put 4 sticks of cm72sd1024rlp-2100/s to upgrade the system to 4 gigs but it will not post. Does anyone have any ideas about this? The supermicro page for the board recommends cm74sd1024rlp-2100/s. What's the exact difference in these two modules? Also, the manual says that pc2100 sticks should work, but will only run at pc1600 speed (which makes sense, given the processor). This is a production machine, so I can't have it offline for long. Yellowbeard
Have you checked with our Memory Configurator? http://www.corsairmemory.com/#
marcreichman
Yes, and it shows up on the list. I'd be quick to blame the board, but it (still) is working perfectly with the 4x512M sticks that are in there.
Yellowbeard
Odd, I'll defer to RAM GUY on this one as his server knowledge dwarfs mine.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 18, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 18, 2007 Those modules should run in that MB, when you changed the modules did you reset the MB BIOS and or try them one set at a time?

marcreichman
The system wouldn't post so I couldn't reset bios, unless you're referring to via the jumper? Also, I tried sets of 1, 2, and all 4 and nothing would post.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 18, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 18, 2007 You will have to reset the BIOS with the CLRTC or Clear CMOS jumper that is not uncommon when chaging memory.
