UACats01
Hi, I recently bought a Gateway (I know, why?) MT3422 laptop a few weeks ago. I checked your site, and it included VS1GSDS667D2 as an available upgrade up to 2 gb. I purchased two of these and just received them today. Upon installing them, I booted up the system. The screen came on as normal, showed the Gateway boot screen, and then went to the windows vista screen where the little green bars scroll across the screen while it boots. After a few seconds the bars freeze and it does not continue booting. I tried to find some sort of memory support in the BIOS but was unable to, figuring Gateway removed them. I can access the windows boot option screen and was able to boot up in all of the safe modes with no problem. There was also an option called memory test I believe, I ran that as well where it tested the memory for 10 to 15 minutes and came up with no errors or problems. I have tried to boot it many times, and freezes at the same screen everytime. I just installed my original ram and it booted up fine. Any ideas? UACats01
I just contacted Gateway technical support figuring they would be able to help somewhat. I was wrong. I tried live chat with their 'technical' support and it was anything but technical. The only thing he could tell me was to buy their 1 gb ram stick for $60. When I asked him if he had any ideas on how to fix it and he responded with ''what I can suggest to you right now is to return and tell them to try other memory stick''. I asked him what kind of advice that was to which he responded ''It is cheaper because sometimes it has factory defect.'' I labeled out the steps I took with the system and was again told ''As I have already been telling you earlier to purchase the memory from us because some of the memory on retail stores ahs factory defect and you do not beleive inme because you have already purchased it. And you are just making a troubleshooting a product outside from us.'' I am pretty sure they are only trained to try and sell more gateway products and their technical knowledge doesn't branch much farther than where the power button is. Sorry for the rant, just disappointed in the way I was treated being a new customer.
Yellowbeard
Did you try each of the Corsair modules seperately?
UACats01
Yeah, I tried to run them individually and about every other possible way. Same thing every time, freezes when those green bars start scrolling.

UACats01
Yes, they are listed as compatible on the memory configurator site, that would be the site I checked before purchasing the memory.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 8, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 8, 2007 Please make sure that you have the latest bios and load setup defaults and then test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure one is not failing.
