ASUS P5W DH Deluxe - 4 month replacement intervals for Twin2X2048-8500C5?

Hello again,

Yes, "shortly" is what I'd hope for as well, particularly given that it seems the assignment of a case # would be automatic and send an e-mail promptly. But, nothing yet...nearly 4 hours since I submitted the request, and I see no evidence of any SPAM filtering that might've intercepted a reply. I'll keep my eyes open.

And I hope I'm not sounding "bitchy"...I'm just trying to keep you updated a bit so you'll have some sense of the timeframe for all RMA correspondence.

It should be automated. If you still don't receive it, then you might want to try using TSXpress to submit the RMA. Sorry to make you fill out another online form, but it may be quicker this way, then to figure out why you have not received a response to the original request. And like I said, just post the case number here when you get it and I'll approve it for you ASAP.

OK, it took 6 hours, but I did finally receive an e-mail saying the RMA request had been approved, with the assigned case number being #454015. So, perhaps there is no further approval action you need to take, unless what you really meant was that you'd see to it the RMA number itself was issued promptly. It does seem odd to me that if an RMA request is approved, the RMA number isn't simply issued immediately and provided in the same e-mail.

Thanks,

Daryl

  • 2 weeks later...

Well, I'm happy to report that I received 4 new 8500C5 v3.1 modules today from Corsair, in response to my RMA. Unlike the first 2 RMAs I had to submit, this one found Corsair much more timely in sending e-mails to report the status of the RMA. The overall time from when I dropped off the package at my local post office for Priority Mail shipment, to when I received the memory today, was a very surprising 10 days! This was a far cry better than the 3 weeks required for each of my first 2 RMAs. With those two RMAs, I had to contact Corsair to learn the status, whereas this time I was kept up-to-date on what was happening as it happened.

The memory is now installed and working fine at 2.0-2.2v with regard to booting; I didn't test any lower voltage and am currently running again at my "standard" overclock of 3.65GHz, 365MHz core clock, 730MHz DDR frequency, 2.15v vDIMM, and CAS 4-4-4-12-4. My system didn't seem interested in booting with CAS 3-3-3-9-4 as I use with the old set of modules, but I'll try again once the new ones have had time to burn in a bit.

Thanks for the help, and prompt RMA response.

Daryl
