reh96zva
Hi, I just want to make sure that the sound (actually just a "beep") what I get from my PSU always before power off is a normal function. This new HX620 PSU is my first device which is making sound, all others had no such a function before, and also I did not find anything about that in the user manual. That is why I worry a bit. Should I? I have already turned to the manufacturer of motherboard (Gigabyte), and their answer was that it can be normal, but it would be better to get confirmation from Corsair. Thank you! Best regards, Zoltan
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 3, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 3, 2007 I am not clear on the sound you are getting? But I would try and reset the BIOS and then load setup defaults and see if the sound goes away. If not can you call our Tech support at 800-205-7657 so we can maybe hear it and then make a better suggestion?
reh96zva
Hi, I have tried what you proposed me (reset the BIOS, etc.), however the sound still existing, exactly what it was before (right before power off). I recorded it, so you can find it in the attached file, and play it by NOKIA media player. Hearing that noise, do you have any idea what is it? Why I think this sound is coming from PSU, because I replaced only the VGA card and PSU, and before I had no such a sound. I think the VGA card is not able to make it. Right? Thank you!Sound#1.zip
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 12, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 12, 2007 Most likely its the video card, which is making the noise because it is being shut down slightly after the PSU, so you are hearing the "not enough power to video card" beep. reh96zva
Ok, but how it can happen? PSU is too fast (I mean during shut down), or the video card is too slow, or there would be some compatibility issue between these two components? The HX620 should be able to supply two of this card in SLI, but I have only one. I am still worry that something is wrong with my configuration. If this sound coming from video card, do you think it has a malfunction? Thank you!

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 16, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 16, 2007 With some motherboard / Video card configurations power may remain in the capacitors longer than it will in the power supply. This will cause the video card to remain "on" for milliseconds longer than the PSU and the VGA card will detect that it is losing power and give its "low power beep." This will not damage any of the components in the system.
