fatrabbit
Hi, I'm just checking whether it's fine to use the VX450W on a Motherboard that has a Pentium4 (Prescott series - 3Ghz) processor and therefore the 4-pin connection (in addition to the 24-pin ATX power cable)? Thanks! My current spec: Dell Dimension 5000 (purchased 2005) P4 (Prescott) 3Ghz 2Gb RAM Radeon X300 graphics card* 1 x DVD-ROM 1 x DVD/CD Burner 1 x 160Gb 7200rpm HD Motherboard: Intel Grantsdale-G i915G *Upgrading to Sapphire x1950 Pro 512Mb (once the power supply is in). Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 1, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 1, 2007 The VX450 has both 4-pin and 8-pin 12v connectors and is backwards compatible to ATX 2.01. Many OEM manufacturers will use proprietary PSUs, so I would recommend that you contact Dell and make sure that an after market PSU would be compatible with your system.
