pixO
I have a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R with a Pentium D 930 and a set of TWIN2X2048-8500C5. (I’m prepping to buy a dual or quad core CPU and this ram was on sale + it had a rebate) I'm having trouble getting my system to POST with two sticks of this memory in dual channel mode. When two are installed (channel 0/Slots 1 & 3), the motherboard freezes at POST when the BIOS checks the memory. I’ve gone into the BIOS and manually changed the timings to 5-5-5-15 and upped the memory voltage +0.3 to give the memory 2.1 volts per the specs. I assumed this ram would work fine, albeit slower, until I had an extra $300 to upgrade my CPU. I’m sure it will but I need a little help :] Mobo rev: 1.0 Bios rev: F6
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 28, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 28, 2007 With that CPU you will need to set the memory frequency at DDR667 or DDR800 and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts.
pixO
I'm pretty certain I set it to 800mhz (the bios setting may be on auto), but I'm at work and I'll verify once I get home. edit: thanks for the quick response :)
pixO
I double checked that I had manually set the FSB - which I did. On a whim, I tried both sticks in dual channel mode and again, my motherboard froze at POST while checking the memory. I then decided to swap out the sticks again to re-confirm that both were working when used in single channel mode - Nope! It appears that one stick is bad (even though I can get my motherboard to POST with it in, it just freezes when it checks the memory). It looks like I need to start an RMA because one stick isn't working correctly :(
