Gelangweilt
Hello! I habe 4GB RAM (4 * XMS2 1024-6400C4) in my PC. however sometimes i get random BSODs. this only happens since i 'upgraded' to 4GB. before i had for 6 months only 2GB in my PC and the thing was solid as a rock. since i put in another 2GB i get these random BSODs. also annoying: when i used the EPP profile (4-4-4-12 timing at 2.1V) the PC would not boot. what can i do to get rid of this nasty problem? 4GB should have made my PC better not worse :sigh!: in the normal 4GB setup everything is at default settings (5-5-5-18 for ram @1.84V) my stuff: Intel D975XBX2 Intel C2D 6700 Corsair XMS2 1024-6400C4 SB X-Fi 2*250GB HDD 1 DVDR 1 DVD Antec 550W PSU TP2.0 this really sucks. please help. update: i tested the RAM with memtest 1.70: 4 complete runs no errors. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 24, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 24, 2007 You will need to set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts with 4 modules and I would suggest setting the MCH or NB chipset voltage +.05 Volts as well. And DDR667 would be suggested with 4 modules installed.
Gelangweilt
ok. will try upping mem voltage. would i better off with 2*2GB modules? (would be only 32chips total on 2 modules instead of 64 chips right now on 4 modules. so less load for the memory controller?)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 24, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 24, 2007 It is not the number of IC's necessarily but the total number of ranks 2 per module.
