Atif
Hey, Could somebody please breakdown ALL the optimal settings for using the TWIN2X2048-8500C5 on ASUS' M2R32-MVP motherboard? I'm particularly interested in what settings should be applied for Clock Skew and MCT Timing? Thanks
DerekT
Your name sounds familiar. Would you be a Canadian BC resident Atif? If you run this ram at 1066Mhz, then you can input the default timings of 5-5-5-15 with 2.1v. Your board only allows for 800Mhz DRAM unless you overclock your CPU. That means you can input 4-4-4-12 with 2.1v for 800Mhz. BIOS Settings: Jumper Free Configuration: DDR Voltage = 2.1V Memory Controller --> Memory Configuration Frequency - 800MHz CAS Latency (CL) - 4 TRCD - 4 TRP - 4 TRAS - 12 Leave all else at Auto. Clock Skew, etc. are optimizations that allow you to implement delay factors and will not be necessary to set manually.
Atif
Thanks for the help, I didn't realize that Corsair suggests leaving all the "intricate" settings to AUTO, LOL. I'm actually not a resident of Canada, sorry, you've got the wrong Atif. I was planning on changing the multiplier on the Athlon so as to get a DDR2 Frequency close to 1066MHz, so I suppose I'll just stick to the default TCL, TRAS, TRCD and TRP :) Is this kit rated for 1T or 2T operation at 1066MHz? Peace
DerekT
The command rate is not a function of the DRAM. It is a function of the CPU memory controller so you need to test to find out if 1T will work with that board. Yes, you can overclock to get to 1066Mhz. Then you would set your timing to 5-5-5-15 2T. Test at 2T with memtest from http://www.memtest.org. Then test with 1T. Then move to your Windows installation and test with Orthos Prime: http://sp2004.fre3.com/beta/orthos_exe_20060420.cab Choose "Blend Test" and run it for ~8 hours. If it runs at 1T stable then you are good at 1T.
Atif
Thanks for the heads-up :) I'm actually going to need to grab this RAM to write the second part of my overclocking guide at FiringSquad. If you'd like to take a look at the first part of my guide: http://firingsquad.com/news/newsarticle.asp?searchid=17492 (Please click on 'Email_Atif' in the article) Peace
