P4rD0nM3
PC Model: HP Pavilion a6000n PSU: Corsair HX520W Motherboard: ASUS M2N68-LA Video Card: ASUS 8800GTS 640MB OS: Windows Vista 32Bit Hello, I bought 2 pairs of VS1GB533D2 from Newegg.com a couple of months ago and lately the computer has been restarting like crazy. I did a Memory Diagnostic Tool test from Vista and it gave me an error message about my memory modules. Can you help me out? My total memory is 4GB. Are there any other test that I should do before RMA'ng it? Thanks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 20, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 20, 2007 Please go to the BIOS setup and Load setup defaults and then exit the BIOS saving changes and then test the system with http://www.memtest.org and if you get errors please test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org
P4rD0nM3
Ok I tested them and they're all returning errors on the test(s) on just one pass. What else do I need to do? Usually getting errors on Test 5, 6, & 7.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 20, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 20, 2007 Errors in test 5-8 would suggest some other problem, do you have the latest BIOS for that system?
P4rD0nM3
I think I do since there is no update on HP's website. Do you think it's a motherboard problem?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 20, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 20, 2007 It sounds like a compatibility issue. Have we tried to replace the modules? Let's get them replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them.
P4rD0nM3
Nope I haven't tried to get them replaced yet. This is my first time in the Corsair Support Forums. It first said to at least post here or contact a tech support before you request a RMA form...so I posted here first.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 20, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 20, 2007 Did you load setup defaults by the way in the BIOS setup and if the option is in the BIOS to Disable legacy USB I would try that as well. P4rD0nM3
Yes I did reload the BIOS to default although I haven't actually touched it ever since I bought the computer. What does the Legacy thing do?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 24, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 24, 2007 Some ASUS MB's will display errors in memtest with that setting enabled, and most HP systems use ASUS MB's.
