danrok
M/B is MSI K8T Neo CPU is AMD64 3000+ PC runs WinXP 64bit only. Which would be the best performing Corsair module? Probably going to go for 1GB total.
danrok
I am now considering XMS 3200 LL, would this be suitable? Eager to order! :)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 1, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 1, 2004 You should be fine with CMX512-3200LL or Twinx1024-3200LL with this MB. Just get the latest bios, install the modules (If you get two) in slots 1-3, set the timings to By SPD, and set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts. danrok
Have now installed TWINX 1Gb 3200LL set to 'by SPD' and 2.7v. Flashed BIOS to ver 1.20. All is well. System is stable up to HTT 210mhz, the folding@home client window crashes at 215mhz. Possibly, I could get stable at a higher speed with more voltage, but I am a bit suspicious of A64's dying at higher volts. Would a manual adjustment of the timings yield a higher speed? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted March 5, 2004 Corsair Employees Share Posted March 5, 2004 I would try a bit more voltage and see if that helps. Also you may need to relax the timings a bit as well. You might try Cass 2.5-3-3-7 and see where the CPU tops out!
danrok
Managed to get up to 218mhz. This board only allows a max vcore of 1.55v. I think that is holding it back now. I only had to relax the timings above 216mhz. This seems to take a performance hit on memory write bandwidth. Read speed is fine.
danrok
Here's a memory benchmark with HTT at 216Mhz and memory timings at stock.
