TekSerMan
Firstly thanks for having a place for me to ask questions and get answers and alllowing me to become a member! i'm called TekSerMan or "Tek" for short and i'm having not so much a problem as but a search for answers about my new ram. i recently purchased (2 days ago) 2 corsair valueselect pc4200 533 sticks from tigerdirect (needless to say there was no documentation included) and i'm wondering what the best settings would be for the ram on a pcchips p23g mobo with a P4 Celeron 3.33 GHZ processor and a via/northbridge chipset and AMI bios which limits my control options quite a bit (wish it was an award but in a pinch @) , also if it's any help i'm booting from an SATA 320GB drive and i use an nvidia 5200fx video adapter with 128MB of video ram that i allocate 256MB of ram for the arperture and i'm running server 2003 and mcafee av for my soho network. the mobo is currently set for auto config of system ram but i don't think it's getting or giving the full benefit of it and had a couple of stop errors this am and i'm asking for help getting everything in line, thanks in advance for all help i recieve. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 17, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 17, 2007 Please make sure that you have the latest Bios version and then load setup/optimized defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.0 volts , and then test with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them one up and or in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
TekSerMan
Thanks! I re-installed the OS over the weekend and all seems well now it's a funny thing but i guess i can credit the problems to upgrading the ram from 512MB 32bit pc3200 400mhz ddr to 2GB 64bit pc4200 533mhz ddr2 but thanks it was actually to fast for the os until i reinstalled with everything already in place!
