draftnbyu
I have Striker Extreme and E6700 cpu I presently have 2 gig of this ram with XP and have no problems. I want to upgrade to 64bit Vista Ultimate and would like to add 2 more gig. My question is as follows: do i just order the same part number or,as friend of mine suggest, that i get the"lot" number off my current c4d's so the next pair will be identical?.He said check with you ram guy and you would send a matching pair.shoudnt i be able just to order another pair as long as they are the same part number and also put them on the MB in their matching slots? Also, will my 800 drop down to 667 becuase of the four gig, and if so, will i notice performance hit becuse of it? thanks in advance

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 13, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 13, 2007 Yes when you go to 4 modules you may indeed need to run the memory at DDR667 and there will be a slight memory performance drop. However, the added memory in a 64-Bit O.S. will be noticeable. Best performance will still be with two modules but you would be able to run more applications from ram rather than the HDD swap file. draftnbyu
well, my rig is just for gamming and i built it for Crysis. I dont not run anyother applications other than mods and ventrillo. So with that in mind, do you recomend 4 gig or 2 gig?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 13, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 13, 2007 I would suggest 2 Gig for best performance or if you have a 32-Bit O.S. just stay with 2 Gig.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 13, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 13, 2007 NP that is best to test it both ways and see which gives you best performance.
draftnbyu
just upgraded to 64bit Vista, its using 680m at idle, does anyone no if the rumor that Vista will throttle back its memory using if a game or app. needs more ram? really do not want to run 4gig at 667. i wish i could get all 4 to run at 800mhz. has anyone got 4 gig at 800mhz abd stable? 4 gig at 667mhz ok for gaming (crysis) or 2 gig at 800mhz better, any thoughts

I would very likely go with 667 and 4GB but you can test when Crysis is finally released. My contacts at EA Games in Vancouver tell me that September is a committed launch. They also say that 2GB and an 8800GTS 320 will run this game fine so you should have no worries. I also await Crysis and am using a dual boot of XP/VISTA 32 and 2GB DRAM. I fully expect this to be fine. Edit: North American Release: November 16, 2007 I guess it's November now. Hello Jeff, Just wondering. Did you say September was a hard launch date for Crysis? Thanks Derek
