kaneguy
Ramguy, I newly purchased ASUS P5KC MB and TWIN2X2048-8500C5D memory. It seems that the ASUS P5KC MB has a problem handling these memory modules at the advertised speeds. The only speed these modules will work at without errors on memtest86 (ver. 1.60) is DDR833. It produces errors on test #5 (Block move, 64 moves) at DDR1000 and DDR1066 speeds. Every test produces errors at different addresses. I tried testing with just one memory modules and got a passing test at DDR1000 only when installing them on the Bank "B", the second slot (Black). Is there any Bios settings that can be set that will make this motherboard accept these memory modules. Is this MB defective or the Memory Modules. System Details: ASUS P5KC Motherboard Bios: 0701 TWIN2X2048-8500C5D Intel E6750 Processor Processor speed DDR833 Other settings on "Auto"
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 20, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 20, 2007 That seems to be because the CPU, I would try and set the memory in linked mode at DDR800 and the CPU at 1066 and then over clock the CPU to get the tested settings of the memory and don't forget to set the Voltages as well.
