urbncwby
I'm building a new computer for myself and I chose GA-965P-S3 (rev. 3.3) as my motherboard and after checking memory compatibility on Gigabyte's site I discovered that it's compatible with CM2X1024-6400C4 memory modules. So I went ahead and ordered TWINX2048-6400C4 which I was told has 2 CM2X1024-6400C4 modules but instead I received TWINX2048-6400C4 G with two CM2X1024-6400C4 G modules. Does this make a difference in compatibility? Can my system still run these? And just what does the G notation stand for ?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 16, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 16, 2007 No that is the same part! You should be good to go just get the latest BIOS and load setup defaults and then set the memory Voltage to +.3 Volts and set the memory timings manually then you are set. urbncwby
Alright but what's the G for then ? And just how do I set the memory voltage and timings ? Thru the BIOS ? I never had to do that before with my 400Mhz modules.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 16, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 16, 2007 Just means they are RHOS compliant. Yes the MB bios will or should have the settings for Voltage in Frequency and Voltage control. Or check the manual for the MB or ask the MB maker to help you with the settings.
