BlankMan
MSI K9N SLI Platinum BIOS 1.7 TWIN2X4096-6400C5 G AMD Athlon x2 6000+ Antec 650W PSU Does Corsair still recommend running this memory at 2.1V? The MB is running it at 1.9V by default. I'm experiencing lockups on OS installation at different points. I'm thinking it's the nVidia SATA controller but you never know. Tried 4 different new 500G WD drives and that doesn't make a difference. And a bunch of new SATA cables rated at 300. memtest is currently running with the voltage set to 1.9V. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 10, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 10, 2007 Max is 2.1 Volts but I would test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure one is not failing. Also these modules should be able to run at 1.8 Volts but I would suggest 1.9 to 2.0 Volts with most MB's.
BlankMan
Thanks. The MD is running them at 1.9V, both modules are in place, I ran memtest for 7 passes, no errors, then I had to power it down. When it came back up it's been running for 24 hours/21 passes now and still no errors, so it looks like it'll be fine. But I have a question, I see you say test the modules one at a time a lot but the motherboard manual says they must be installed in pairs. Will the MB work with only one module installed? I never tried it.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 13, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 13, 2007 Yes but if you are not getting errors and the system is stable you should be good to go.
