Hx520 Doa?

Recommended Posts

Just got a new HX520 and it seems to not be working. Just for fun, I plugged it into my mobo and the wall and flipped the switch. Nothing. I did the paperclip test (connect the green wire to the black wire) and the fan spins, but when it's plugged into the motherboard (not yet installed in the case, btw), I get nothing. No clicking, no fans, no LEDs, no voltage on the HD power cables. Any ideas?

My setup:

Motherboard: Gigiabyte GA-G33M-DS2R

CPU: Intel C2D E6750

RAM: 2GB Patriot eXtreme Performance DDR2-800

We need more details.

You flipped what switch? Hopefully you have the psu ATX power connectors, cpu, memory & video card (both optional for a power on test) all connected to the mainboard. Since you have things outside the case you can use the paperclip to short the 2 pins where the case pwr switch would connect to power on the system.

You flipped what switch?

The one on the back of the power supply.

Everything's connected; ATX power, RAM, CPU, Vid card. Except...

...short the 2 pins where the case pwr switch would connect to power on the system.

I knew I was forgetting something major. :o: I'll try that and let you know. Many thanks for the reminder.
