Hibernate/shut-down failure w/new RAM

My problem the reverse of RobbieG's (earlier post):

Installed 2 x 1Gb [VS1GB400C3] chips on home machine

[AMD Athlon processor, running XP Media Centre Edn]

and mem is acknowledged in StartUp-- but now my machine

won't Sleep/Hibernate or shut down from desktop?!

It's just doing re-boot cycles and I have to use the physical

toggle switch at back.

Am here hoping to learn, or at least help my friend who

installed it save time.

Thanks!

Was the system up and running with other memory when you installed these modules? If so then you will need to remove these options and set them up again in the case of Hibernate the suspend to disk file needs to be re-created and you may need to specify the swap file size. But to test the memory I would test the system with http://www.memtest.org after you load setup defaults and I would set the memory Voltage to 2.7X Volts as well.

I've attached a .jpeg (photo) of one Error message I have seen.

Helpful?

Machine NOT on at time of swap. Tech changed/added no

software or command at change, so I'll take this advice to him!

Thanks _very_ much.

Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
